This class will be an overview of the requirements and benefits of being a member of the North Carolina State Firemen’s Association. Since 1887 the Association has been working to promote North Carolina’s Fire service in a role that includes support, benefits, and advocacy. The requirements of membership and membership rosters will be discussed as well as the departmental character of membership, including legislative requirements specified by law for membership. Specific benefits for members will be discussed giving the attendee a full review of all that can be expected as a member of the association. The session will also include how the association advocates for its members at a state and national level, and how members can become more involved in advocating for themselves. Attendees will leave with a greater understanding of how their association works, and how they can become involved individually in advocating for their benefit.
