RIT for the Understaffed Company focuses on teaching students new approaches to common rapid intervention tactics to help an understaffed rapid intervention team operate more efficiently on the fireground. Students are taught modified techniques for conducting a scene size-up, staging, selecting tools and equipment, searching for a down member, and removing firefighters that will make a short-staffed rapid intervention team (RIT) more effective on the fireground. New ideas and techniques for training an understaffed RIT are also discussed along with emerging new technologies that can aid the understaffed RIT.
To help firefighters operating on a rapid intervention team staffed with only 2-4 members successfully save the life of a brother or sister when a mayday occurs.
